Job summary

Civica is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Local Government APAC team in Melbourne. You will influence technical direction, contribute to modernising our applications, and own features end to end in a high-impact public sector context.

You will work in a modern AI-enabled engineering environment with tools like Claude Code and Copilots, delivering scalable, secure software for councils and communities. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• Experience building full-stack C#/.NET/React applications.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and design.
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native delivery.
• Ability to partner with product, design and stakeholders to translate complex requirements.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Own complex features end to end from design to production.
• Design and build scalable full-stack solutions using C#, .NET and React.
• Shape architecture decisions balancing quality, security and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and design to clarify requirements.
• Build, deploy and support software across CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments.
• Apply AI tools judiciously to improve quality and speed while ensuring security.
• Promote engineering practices with automated testing and code reviews.
• Identify risks and blockers early and communicate trade-offs.
