Job summary

KBR Australia is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to deliver the system safety assurance program across a Defence sustainment contract in Sydney. You will lead safety case development, safety assessments, and compliance activities in line with Defence standards and engineering delegations.

The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree, 10+ years in systems safety, and a Baseline Defence Security Clearance (or higher).

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required.
• 10+ years in systems safety within Defence or similar high-risk industries.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of the System Safety Program and Safety Case Reports.
• Direct safety assurance activities in line with the In-Service Safety Program (ISSP).
• Review and develop safety cases for new and existing capabilities.
• Support engineering change activities by ensuring safety design integration.
• Review design requirements and deliverables for safety compliance.
• Mentor engineers and provide risk-based technical advice to senior leadership.
• Ensure certification aligns with Defence and regulatory frameworks.
