KBR in Australia is seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our Mission Integration team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge software solutions that support Defence capabilities.

You'll work with multidisciplinary teams across the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment, designing, developing, testing, and supporting applications while adhering to engineering best practices. Active NV1 Defence Security Clearance required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software-related field.
3+ years in a Software Engineer role.
Experience with ASP.NET, C#, HTML, JavaScript.
Experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
Understanding of OOP principles.
Experience with unit testing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality software following engineering standards.
Participate in Agile software development activities (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews).
Assist with task decomposition, planning and estimation.
Design, develop, test and maintain software applications and features.
Conduct unit, performance, and integration testing.
Contribute to system documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, PMs and stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
Support continuous improvement of processes.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and Defence stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle, helping to build innovative applications that enhance capability outcomes for our customers.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and support of software applications and systems. Working within an agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop robust and scalable solutions while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.

You will also have the opportunity to work on projects supporting Defence platforms, systems, and applications, contributing to capability development and growth within KBR's Mission Integration business.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality software in accordance with established engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Assist with task decomposition, work planning, and effort estimation.
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and features.
Conduct and support unit testing, performance testing, and system integration activities.
Contribute to system and technical documentation.
Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across software engineering processes and practices.
Represent KBR professionally while adhering to company policies, security requirements, and quality standards.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Software Engineer or similar role.
Experience developing applications using:
ASP.NET, C#, HTML, JavaScript
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL, including Stored Procedures.
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
Experience with Unit Testing methodologies and frameworks.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

Azure DevOps (ADO/TFS)
Git
Experience developing in Microsoft Visual Studio.
Experience developing using an agile methodology (Agile/Scrum).
Experience working in a software development environment using the Microsoft software development & test product stack.
Experience developing applications for Defence networks.
