Job summary

Ecommerce Equation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the data model and the event-driven backend powering our analytics platform. You will work closely with the Sydney team to ensure accuracy, speed, and reliability as the user base grows across Shopify, Google and Meta data integrations.

You'll shape AWS-based infrastructure, drive ADR and testing standards, and lead AI-assisted development practices to keep delivering value in small, frequent releases.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and schema modelling for growing workloads.
• Experience running large migrations safely in production with risk reduction.
• Designing and operating event-driven systems and background jobs at scale.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services including Aurora/RDS, SQS/EventBridge, and Lambda or ECS.
• Experience building third-party API integrations (Shopify, Meta and Google is a plus).
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and automated tests with every change.
• Proactive, disciplined, and able to prioritise in a fast-changing market.
• Strong communication to explain data discrepancies clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own data lands, integrations, and calculations to keep numbers accurate at scale.
• Ensure platform reliability and performance, with IaC and observability.
• Maintain idempotent, end-to-end event-driven jobs with proper retry and alerting.
• Set and model ADRs, code review standards, testing, and AI guardrails.
