Job summary

Lumi is building a fast-growing fintech platform in Sydney. We are seeking a senior full- stack engineer to own features end-to-end, mentor peers, raise quality standards and explore generative AI to boost customer outcomes and developer productivity.

You will work with engineers, product managers and designers to design scalable systems, improve security, observability and maintainability while delivering value quickly in a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Lead end-to-end feature design and delivery across lending, risk management and customer service systems.
• Architectural decisions to improve reliability, security, scalability and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and evolve technical standards and practices.
• Explore and apply generative AI to improve outcomes and productivity.
• Own complex features from estimation to production support, balancing value and maintainability.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery across Lumi's systems with engineers, PMs, designers and stakeholders.
• Improve platform reliability, security, scalability, testing, observability and code review.
• Mentor teammates and raise engineering capability and standards.
• Apply AI technologies to improve customer outcomes and processes.
• Own features from scoping to rollout and production support.
• Balance customer value, speed, quality and long-term maintainability.

THE ROLE

• Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of features across Lumi's lending, risk management and customer service systems, working closely with engineers, product managers, designers and business stakeholders.
• Improve the reliability, security, scalability and maintainability of our platform through sound architectural decisions and strong practices across testing, observability and code review.
• Raise the capability of the engineering team by mentoring others, sharing knowledge and helping evolve our technical standards and practices.
• Explore and apply AI technologies where they can improve customer outcomes, internal processes or engineering productivity.
• Demonstrated experience operating as a senior full-stack engineer, ideally building production applications with TypeScript and React.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and experience working with distributed systems or microservices.
• Strong practices across automated testing, security, observability, code review and incident response.
• A track record of owning complex features from shaping and estimation through delivery, rollout and production support.
• Sound judgment when balancing customer value, delivery speed, technical quality, cost and long-term maintainability.
• Experience mentoring engineers and positively influencing technical standards and team practices.
• Experience with, or curiosity about, using generative AI tools effectively as part of the software development.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
