Job summary

Iterate is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our cloud-based data and analytics engine behind flagship programs. The role sits in a hybrid Melbourne/Sydney pattern with 4 days onsite and 1 day WFH, on a 6-month contract with a strong chance of extension.

You’ll own end-to-end: diagnose issues, design and build AWS-based components, mentor juniors, and raise coding standards while collaborating with leadership.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience deploying and operating complex software in AWS.
• Strong fundamentals with Git, GitHub Actions and a solid IDE workflow.
• Strong analytical chops; explain complex production issues clearly to non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing defects and problems across large, complex, integrated systems not just fixes.
• Designing and building cloud-based software components on AWS, end to end.
• Breaking complex work into clear, actionable tasks and supporting junior developers through delivery (plus regular code reviews).
• Working directly with stakeholders to shape solutions and get them endorsed by leadership.
• Helping lift coding standards and practices across the wider team.

Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to sit within the cloud-based data and analytics engine behind several of their flagship programs the systems quietly making the energy transition work in the background. They’re after a Senior Engineer who can own that end to end: spot the issue in a complex, business-critical system, diagnose it properly, break it into clear tasks, and mentor a junior developer through delivering the fix.

What you’ll actually be doing:

• Diagnosing defects and problems across large, complex, integrated systems not just fixing what’s already been flagged
• Designing and building cloud-based software components on AWS, end to end
• Breaking complex work into clear, actionable tasks and supporting junior developers through delivery (plus regular code reviews).
• Working directly with stakeholders to shape solutions and get them endorsed by leadership.
• Helping lift coding standards and practices across the wider team.

What you’ll bring:
