Job summary

The Government Department is seeking three Senior Software Engineers for an initial contract to 30 June 2027, with potential extensions. The role focuses on hands-on AWS development of secure, scalable cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices and integrations.

You will design, build and deliver solutions in AWS, using serverless, containerised and event-driven approaches, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and IaC. Canberra-based with hybrid arrangements after an initial office presence.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial software engineering experience using Java, Python, Node.js, JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Solid hands-on experience deploying solutions within AWS environments.
• Experience with APIs, microservices, serverless and/or containerised solutions.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, ideally using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with ability to contribute to technical design and provide leadership within a development team.
• NV1/NV2 clearance.

You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible to apply. This is a Canberra-based role, with full-time office presence required for the first 3 months.
