Job summary

Alii in Melbourne seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and evolve the technology behind Alii, working across C#/.NET, APIs, React front-ends and AI-enabled workflows. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions and experiment with agentic development. This is a hybrid role with Melbourne office days and remote work flexible.

You will build domain services, REST and event-driven services, and help scale engineering practices while keeping security and maintainability top of mind.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C# and .NET Core experience.
• Strong understanding of REST API design.
• Strong SQL and Entity Framework experience.
• Experience working with microservice architectures.
• Experience with React and modern front-end development.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message queues, ideally Azure Service Bus and MassTransit.
• Good understanding of Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Comfortable working across both legacy and modern architectures.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and good engineering practices.
• A clear communicator who works well in a collaborative engineering team.
• Interested in moving beyond basic code completion into agentic development workflows and engineering automation.

The Role

You’ll help design, build and evolve the technology behind Alii, while playing a senior role in how our engineering practices develop.

A key part of this role will be helping us move further into AI-enabled and agentic software development. We want someone who working our senior engineering teamcan help set up, test and iterate on agentic development workflows, work out what actually improves engineering productivity and quality, and help spearhead adoption across the engineering team.

You’re an experienced engineer who communicates clearly, thinks beyond the immediate ticket and enjoys solving complex problems with other smart people.

You’re equally comfortable improving an established application, contributing to modern services and exploring better ways for the team to build software.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong C# and .NET Core experience

• Strong understanding of REST API design
