The Role and The Challenge

We are seeking an exceptional and highly proactive Senior .NET Engineer who wants to challenge themselves by working on truly innovative software and solving real and complex problems.

If you are content with picking up standard tickets and writing boilerplate CRUD applications, this is not the role for you. We want elite problem solvers. You will step into a high trust and fully empowered environment where you are expected to take complete technical ownership of ultra fast and highly performant backend architectures.

Access to AI Tooling: We believe in removing friction so you can focus on solving hard problems. You will have full access to enterprise AI tooling, including Claude Code, to assist you in accelerating code generation, refactoring, and pipeline management.

Key Responsibilities

• Solving Interesting Problems: Autonomously identify architectural bottlenecks or process inefficiencies, thinking outside the box to engineer creative and unconventional solutions to highly complex technical challenges.
• API Architecture and Engineering: Design, build, and scale production grade RESTful JSON APIs using the latest .NET Core frameworks and CSharp, ensuring optimal response times and high throughput.
• System Design and Production Operations: Own comprehensive system design, applying 12 factor app principles to ensure your software is robust, observable, and fully prepared to operate reliably in high scale production environments.
• Backend System Design: Contribute heavily to backend architecture and solution design, supporting enterprise scale requirements, microservices, and complex data orchestration.
• Deep .NET Optimisation: Push the boundaries of the framework, optimising at the Common Language Runtime level to ensure maximum performance and minimal latency across our core platforms.
• AI Driven Engineering: Extensively utilise AI tools to assist in accelerating code generation, automating testing, and solving complex architectural roadblocks.
• Secure Development: Architect solutions that adhere to the strictest security standards, working safely within a highly regulated enterprise environment to protect sensitive data and prevent vulnerabilities.
• DevOps and Testing: Develop and maintain pipelines using GitHub Actions or TeamCity. Implement robust test automation practices, including containerised workflows using Docker.

What You Bring (Technically)

• System Design and Production Acumen: Deep understanding of modern system design and architectural patterns, with complete fluency in 12 factor app principles and a rigorous focus on how code behaves in production.
• The Depths of .NET Mastery: You do not just use the framework. You understand the absolute depths of CSharp and .NET, with deep knowledge of Common Language Runtime internals, garbage collection, memory management, and asynchronous programming.
• Senior Level Expertise: Proven experience operating at a Senior Engineer level within modern and high performing engineering teams that build innovative software.
• RESTful API Excellence: Mandatory and extensive commercial experience designing, documenting, and building high performance RESTful JSON APIs from scratch.
• Security and Performance: A strong track record of building secure and performant applications, including optimising complex database queries and advanced caching strategies.
• Tooling Fluency: A practical and delivery focused mindset on how to leverage modern AI tools to assist in software engineering and problem solving.
• Bonus Skills: Commercial experience deploying and operating .NET workloads on AWS, alongside experience integrating or building data layers using GraphQL.
