Job summary

Alii in Melbourne seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and evolve the technology behind Alii, working across C#/.NET, APIs, React front-ends and AI-enabled workflows. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions and experiment with agentic development. This is a hybrid role with Melbourne office days and remote work flexible.

You will build domain services, REST and event-driven services, and help scale engineering practices while keeping security and maintainability top of mind.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C# and .NET Core experience.
• Strong understanding of REST API design.
• Strong SQL and Entity Framework experience.
• Experience working with microservice architectures.
• Experience with React and modern front-end development.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message queues, ideally Azure Service Bus and MassTransit.
• Good understanding of Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Comfortable working across both legacy and modern architectures.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and good engineering practices.
• A clear communicator who works well in a collaborative engineering team.
• Interested in moving beyond basic code completion into agentic development workflows and engineering automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C# and .NET Core domain services and APIs.
• Build new user interfaces using React and our Micro SPA architecture.
• Work across our existing MVC application and modern microservice architecture.
• Design and build REST APIs and event-driven services.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration and API tests.
• Contribute to CI/CD, engineering automation and developer tooling.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design and peer reviews.
• Champion practical and responsible AI-enabled software engineering across the team.
• Develop AI tools, agentic workflows and automation approaches.
• Turn successful experiments into repeatable team practices.
• Help increase engineering speed without compromising quality, security or maintainability.
