Job summary

Hannover Re Australia is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Sydney to build and enhance software applications using the Microsoft stack. You will maintain, troubleshoot and improve existing systems while aligning with Scrum practices and cloud deployments.

The role requires 8+ years in .NET, strong C# skills, SQL Server, Power BI, and experience with Azure DevOps, IaC and secure coding. Hybrid work and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline desirable.
• Minimum 8 years' experience as a .NET Developer.
• Advanced technical skills in C#, Microsoft .NET, SQL Server, and Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud environments and CI/CD practices, including IaC and Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of secure coding principles, including OWASP practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop new software applications and enhance, maintain and support existing ones.
• Code and enhance applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
• Implement user stories and technical requirements from sprint planning and participate in Scrum ceremonies.
• Conduct code reviews and implement unit tests to ensure quality delivery.
• Support and maintain staging and production cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot defects and issues for clients and internal users.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, stakeholders and end users to deliver outcomes.
• Ensure compliance, risk management and governance in the software lifecycle.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Developer to join our Life & Health Subsidiary in Sydney.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Manager - Application Development, this permanent role is part of our Application Development team. As a Senior Software Developer, you will be responsible for the development of new software applications and the enhancement, maintenance and support of existing software applications.

You can look forward to:

• Coding and enhancing software applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
• Implementing user stories and technical requirements identified during sprint planning and participating in Scrum ceremonies, estimation activities, and release planning.
• Conducting code reviews and implementing unit testing to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Supporting and maintaining staging and production cloud environments.
• Troubleshooting and resolving defects and technical issues for clients and internal users.
• Working closely with developers, testers, business stakeholders, and end users to deliver business outcomes including knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team
• Ensuring compliance, risk management, and governance requirements within the software development lifecycle

You come equipped with:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (desirable).
• Minimum 8 years' experience as a .NET Developer.
• Advanced technical skills in C#, Microsoft .NET, SQL Server, and Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud environments and CI/CD practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of secure coding principles, including OWASP practices.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a Scrum team environment.
