Job summary

Hannover Re Australia is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Life & Health Subsidiary in Sydney. You will develop new software applications and enhance existing systems, while maintaining cloud environments and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver business outcomes.

The role requires extensive experience with C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Power BI, plus strong Azure and DevOps knowledge. A Scrum-friendly mindset and secure coding practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline is desirable.
• Minimum 8 years' experience as a .NET Developer.
• Advanced skills in C#, Microsoft .NET, SQL Server, and Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud environments and CI/CD practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of secure coding principles, including OWASP practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a Scrum team environment.

Responsibilities

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Developer to join our Life & Health Subsidiary in Sydney.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Application Development Manager, this permanent role is part of our team. As a Senior Software Developer, you will be responsible for the development of new software applications and the enhancement, maintenance and support of existing software applications.

You can look forward to

• Coding and enhancing software applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
• Implementing user stories and technical requirements identified during sprint planning and participating in Scrum ceremonies, estimation activities, and release planning.
• Conducting code reviews and implementing unit testing to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Supporting and maintaining staging and production cloud environments.
• Troubleshooting and resolving defects and technical issues for clients and internal users.
• Working closely with developers, testers, business stakeholders, and end users to deliver business outcomes including knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team
• Ensuring compliance, risk management, and governance requirements within the software development lifecycle
