Job summary

Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) is the principal contractor for Snowy Hydro's Snowy 2.0. The Site Safety Coordinator will oversee day-to-day safety advisor coordination and governance, ensuring WHS systems are implemented for safe construction activities and acting as contact in the Site Safety Manager’s absence.

The role requires 7+ years in construction safety, leadership of safety teams, and strong knowledge of underground construction techniques, incident investigations, and OFSC

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' experience in construction and/or tunnelling safety roles.
• Leading and managing direct reports.
• Demonstrated experience on large-scale major infrastructure projects.
• Safety management tools and techniques.
• Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls.
• Understanding of construction delivery techniques and high-risk activities.
• Industrial relations knowledge and experience.
• Experience with underground excavation techniques (drill and blast, sequential excavation, TBM).
• Familiar with OFSC system compliance.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply WHS legislation, codes of practice and Australian Standards.
• Complete audits and risk assessments.
• Provide advice and support to construction management to ensure safety compliance.
• Implement safety plans and subsidiary systems documentation.
• Coordinate implementation of the Area Safety Activity Schedule.
• Coordinate the area Safety team and ensure adequate resources.
• Assist in identifying and delivering safety training.
• Analyse and report safety targets to Project Management.
• Ensure incidents are reported and properly investigated and closed out.
• Promote a dynamic safety culture and well-planned construction activities.
• Support Operations Safety Managers as required.
