Job summary

Optus is seeking a Senior Security Platform Engineer to design, build, and evolve enterprise SIEM and SOAR platforms powering cyber defence operations. This hands-on role focuses on automation, scalable security platforms, and threat detection improvement.

You will onboard telemetry from diverse systems, normalise and enrich data for detection, and develop Python-based solutions to boost efficiency and response capabilities. Collaboration with security and engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience engineering and supporting enterprise SIEM and/or SOAR platforms.
• Strong skills in log management and telemetry onboarding.
• Hands-on scripting and API integration for automated security ops.
• Knowledge of cloud security logging and Microsoft 365 telemetry.
• Collaborative, automation-focused approach and passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise SIEM and SOAR platforms.
• Onboard, normalise, and enrich security telemetry from diverse systems.
• Develop automation workflows and Python-based solutions to improve efficiency.
• Manage detection content, configurations, and deployments using CI/CD and best practices.
• Partner with Cyber Defence and engineering teams to improve platform performance and automation.
