Job summary

Google, in conjunction with Mandiant, seeks a Cyber Defense Center engineer to sustain SIEM/SOAR platforms, develop detection content, and automate responses for daily CDC tasks in Australia. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve incident detection and response capabilities.

You will configure SIEM/SOAR environments, create detection content, and implement automations to support client security operations across Australia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in detection engineering, SOAR automation, or related role.
• 3 years of experience with SOC/CSIRT or incident response teams.
• Experience with detection tuning and creation using SIEM/EDR/NDR tools.
• Experience with writing SIEM queries in Python or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Identify challenges in customer Cyber Defense Centers and plan improvements.
• Advise on technologies relied upon by CDC, CSIRT, and SOC.
• Create/modify SIEM use cases and SOAR playbooks (Python).
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to drive issue resolution.
• Provide expertise for SIEM, SOAR and SOC technologies to support incident response.
