Job summary

BHP is seeking an experienced SEM Lead for Peak Downs to oversee Security, Medical and Emergency Management. The role supports a Monday–Friday schedule with RESI, FIFO or DIDO options and focuses on delivering safe, reliable operations.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, drive SEM performance, and ensure compliance with safety legislation while partnering with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Security, Medical and Emergency Management.
• Mining or heavy industry experience is highly regarded.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and crisis response activities.
• Strong understanding of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts and service provider performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Security, Medical and Emergency Management teams to deliver safe and reliable operational outcomes.
• Maintain and improve SEM systems, procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Analyse performance data and provide reporting and insights for decision-making.
• Manage SEM contracts and service providers, ensuring performance and value delivery.
• Support budgeting and identify cost-efficiencies.
• Lead incident management training and emergency exercises.
• Identify, assess and manage risks using established frameworks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen emergency preparedness and response capability.
• Contribute to sustainability by managing people, community, environmental and human rights risks.
• Champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
