Job summary

BHP seeks an experienced SEM Lead to oversee Security, Medical and Emergency Management at the Peak Downs operation. This Monday to Friday role offers RESI, FIFO or DIDO arrangements.

As SEM Lead you will provide leadership and strategic oversight of SEM systems, drive compliance, enhance emergency preparedness and support site safety and risk objectives. Reporting to the SEM Manager, you will guide teams and manage contracts and budgets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Security, Medical and Emergency Management or related field.
• Mining, resources, industrial or heavy industry experience is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing emergency or crisis response activities.
• Strong understanding of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts and service provider performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Security, Medical and Emergency Management teams to deliver safe operational outcomes.
• Maintain and continuously improve SEM systems, procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Analyse performance data and provide reporting and recommendations for decision-making.
• Manage SEM contracts and service providers and ensure performance and value delivery.
• Support budgeting and identify cost efficiencies.
• Lead incident management training, emergency exercises and capability-building initiatives.
• Identify, assess and manage risks using established risk management frameworks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen emergency preparedness and response capability.
• Contribute to sustainability by managing risks to people, environment and communities.
• Champion a culture focused on safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
