BHP is seeking an experienced SEM Lead to oversee Security, Emergency and Medical Management at the Peak Downs operation. This role is Monday to Friday with flexibility for RESI, FIFO or DIDO arrangements, reporting to the SEM Manager.

You will lead teams, enhance SEM systems, and drive compliance across safety and risk objectives. Key responsibilities include managing contracts, budgeting, incident training, and stakeholder collaboration to strengthen emergency preparedness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Security, Medical and Emergency Management or related field.
• Mining, resources, industrial or heavy industry experience is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing emergency or crisis response activities.
• Strong understanding of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts and service provider performance.

• Lead and support SEM teams to deliver safe and reliable operational outcomes.
• Maintain and improve SEM systems, procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Analyse performance data and provide reporting and recommendations.
• Manage SEM-related contracts and service providers.
• Support operational budgeting and identify cost efficiencies.
• Lead incident management training and emergency exercises.
• Identify and manage risks using established risk frameworks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen preparedness and response capability.
• Contribute to sustainability by managing risks across people, environment and communities.
• Champion a culture focused on safety and continuous improvement.
