Job summary

Paxus Australia Pty Ltd. in Brisbane is seeking a hands-on Senior Security Specialist to join a high-performing Information Security team.

The role centers on security operations, incident detection and response, security monitoring and continuous improvement. You will work across SIEM, Microsoft Defender and Cloud Security technologies, lead incident response activities, perform root cause analysis and contribute to playbooks, governance and threat investigations while collaborating with MSSPs

Qualifications

• Hands-on cyber security and security operations experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Splunk and/or Sentinel.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, EDR/XDR, network security and firewalls.
• Experience with IAM/PAM, vulnerability management and threat hunting.
• Strong incident response capabilities and knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK.
• Understanding of ISO 27001, NIST or similar frameworks.
• Experience with digital forensics, threat intelligence and root cause analysis is highly regarded.
• Excellent stakeholder communication across technical and business teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate and respond to security events and incidents.
• Work across SIEM, Microsoft Defender and Cloud Security technologies.
• Lead incident response activities, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
• Support threat intelligence, vulnerability assessments and security investigations.
• Lead or support digital forensic investigations where required.
• Collaborate with MSSPs, internal technology teams and senior stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve security controls and operational maturity.
• Contribute to incident response plans, playbooks and governance.
