Job summary

Paxus Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join Brisbane for a hands-on 12-month contract. You will support critical security operations across cloud, endpoints and networks, leading incident response and threat detection initiatives.

You’ll conduct complex investigations, drive threat hunting and vulnerability management, and contribute to automation and process improvements while mentoring junior analysts in a large enterprise environment.

Senior Cyber Security Analyst | Brisbane | 12-Month Contract

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join a large and complex organisation, supporting critical cyber security operations and helping strengthen its overall security posture.

This is a hands-on role covering security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, threat hunting and vulnerability management, with the opportunity to work across a broad enterprise technology environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and coordinate cyber security incident response, from triage and containment through to recovery and post-incident review.
• Conduct complex investigations across cloud, endpoint, identity, network and enterprise environments.
• Use SIEM, EDR and threat intelligence platforms to detect and respond to security threats.
• Perform proactive threat hunting and identify emerging security risks.
• Develop and improve detection rules, monitoring use cases, alerting logic and investigation procedures.
• Support vulnerability management, DLP and Insider Risk Management initiatives.
• Drive automation, process improvement and operational efficiencies.
• Develop incident response playbooks, procedures, technical documentation and reporting.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior analysts.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring strong hands‑on experience in a senior cyber security, incident response or security operations role within a complex enterprise environment.

Key experience includes:

• SIEM, EDR, threat intelligence and security monitoring
• Cyber security incident response and investigation
• Threat hunting
• Vulnerability management and risk-based remediation
• Cloud, endpoint, identity and network security
• Security automation and operational improvement
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable experience

Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Purview, Elastic Security or Rapid7 will be highly regarded.

Knowledge of Essential Eight, NIST CSF and ISO 27001, together with relevant certifications such as CISSP, SANS, Security+ or Microsoft Security certifications, would also be advantageous.
