Job summary

Peoplebank is recruiting a Senior Cyber Security Analyst (Cyber Operations) in Brisbane on a hybrid schedule for a 12-month contract. You will lead complex investigations, coordinate incident response and uplift detection, monitoring, and resilience across a large enterprise.

You will monitor security alerts (SIEM/EDR), drive incident response, threat hunting and playbook development, mentor junior analysts, and participate in on-call support.

Qualifications

• Senior SOC/incident response background in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on with SIEM, EDR, and investigative tooling.
• Excellent analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
• Strong documentation discipline (procedures, playbooks, knowledge articles).

Responsibilities

Contract: 12 months

About the Role:

We’re seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to strengthen cyber operations across a large enterprise environment. You’ll lead complex investigations, coordinate incident response, and uplift detection/monitoring and cyber resilience capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate and respond to security alerts/incidents (SIEM/EDR/threat intel)
• Lead incident response: triage, containment, recovery, post-incident reviews
• Conduct threat hunting and improve detection use-cases/rules and playbooks
• Support vulnerability management and information protection initiatives (e.g., DLP/IRM)
• Produce incident reports, RCA, and operational reporting
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to continuous improvement/automation
• Participate in on-call/after-hours support as required

Required experience

• Senior SOC / incident response background in complex enterprise environments
• Strong hands-on with SIEM, EDR, and investigative tooling across endpoint/identity/network/cloud
• Excellent analytical and stakeholder communication skills
• Strong documentation discipline (procedures, playbooks, knowledge articles)

Desirable

• Microsoft security stack: Sentinel, Defender XDR/Endpoint/Identity/Cloud, Purview
• Elastic Security, Rapid7 (or similar)
• Familiarity with Essential Eight, NIST CSF, ISO 27001
• Certs such as CISSP / SANS / Microsoft Security / Security+
