Job summary

Paxus in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Senior Security Specialist to join a high-performing Information Security team. This hands-on role focuses on Security Operations, incident detection and response, security monitoring and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include incident response leadership, threat intelligence support, and digital forensics when required, working with MSSPs and internal teams to uplift security maturity.

Qualifications

• Hands-on cyber security and security operations experience.
• Experience with Defender, Splunk or Sentinel required.
• Knowledge of cloud security, IAM/PAM and threat hunting.

Responsibilities

• Lead incident response activities including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
• Support threat intelligence, vulnerability assessments and security investigations.

• Identify opportunities to improve security controls, processes and operational maturity.
• Contribute to incident response plans, playbooks and security governance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate and respond to security events and incidents.
• Work across SIEM, Microsoft Defender and Cloud Security technologies.
• Lead incident response activities, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
• Support threat intelligence, vulnerability assessments and security investigations.

What we're looking for

• Strong hands-on Cyber Security / Security Operationsexperience.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Splunk and/or Sentinel.
• Strong understanding of Cloud Security, EDR/XDR, network security and firewalls.
• Experience with IAM/PAM, vulnerability management and threat hunting.
• Strong incident response capability and knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK.
• Understanding of ISO 27001, NIST or similar security frameworks.
• Experience with digital forensics, threat intelligence and root cause analysishighly regarded.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and ability to work across technical and business teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications.
