Job summary

Xero in Sydney is seeking a Senior Engineer in Security Defence to design, build and operate production security capabilities that detect and respond to threats. You will collaborate across Security Operations, Security Response, CX, Product and Engineering to translate threat intelligence into effective controls.

You’ll lead complex projects, shape engineering direction, and foster a culture of shared ownership and continuous learning within Security Defence.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, building and operating production security capabilities.
• Proficient Python scripting to apply sound software engineering practices to security.
• Experience with security monitoring, threat intelligence, incident response and automation.
• Comfort with AWS and cloud security services.

Responsibilities

• Detection, monitoring and response workflows across SIEM, SOAR, EDR and cloud security platforms.
• Automation that reduces manual toil and speeds up threat response.
• Measuring detection coverage, control effectiveness and operational reliability.
• Bringing automation and AI into security engineering in safe, valuable ways.
