Job summary

The Australian Department of Employment and Workplace Relations in Canberra is seeking a Senior Gateway / Network Security Engineer to design, operate and evolve the Department’s Secure Internet Gateway environment, ensuring secure, reliable and resilient government networks.

The role leads technical projects, manages gateway infrastructure and security services, mentors junior staff and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver secure and modernised gateway services.

Qualifications

• Experience as a network or security engineer with complex problem solving.
• Experience with enterprise networking and security technologies.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Designing, managing and maintaining gateway infrastructure and security services.
• Leading technical projects, upgrades and service improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical incidents and changes.
• Managing technologies including web proxies, email security, DNS, firewalls, WAF, load balancing and related security platforms.
• Mentoring junior staff and providing technical advice to stakeholders.
• Contributing to the ongoing security, reliability and modernisation of Gateway services.
