Job summary

Ascham School is seeking a collaborative and experienced classroom leader to head professional learning initiatives across the Senior School. The role focuses on mentoring, coaching and accreditation support to strengthen teaching practice and student outcomes.

The successful candidate will support early career teachers, foster collaboration, and design high-quality professional learning opportunities within a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualifications and current NESA accreditation.
• Significant secondary teaching experience in contemporary teaching practice.
• Experience mentoring, coaching and developing teachers.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with cross-team influence.
• Experience designing and delivering professional learning programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead professional learning, mentoring and coaching initiatives across the Senior School.
• Support induction, development and retention of new and early career teachers.
• Guide teacher accreditation and engagement with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Foster collaboration and sharing of effective practice across departments.
• Partner with leaders to identify development needs and deliver targeted professional support.
• Coordinate Teacher Education Student placements and build university partnerships.
• Champion a culture of feedback, reflection and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a 0.4 teaching load and contribute to academic, pastoral and co-curricular life.
