Job summary

The Australian National University (ANU) invites applications for a Senior School Administrator in the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific. This 15-month fixed-term role supports the School of Computing with high-level administrative coordination and operational efficiency.

Based in Canberra, you will work with staff, students and the School Executive to deliver quality administrative services across a busy environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate hiring process for CSA/tutors each semester, incl. advertising, interviews, onboarding, and tutor budgets.
  • Coordinate a range of School activities, meetings and administrative processes; advise on policies.
  • Support recruitment, appointments, onboarding and staffing processes.
  • Coordinate travel, purchasing, financial administration and reimbursements.
  • Prepare correspondence, documentation and reports.
  • Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Build effective relationships across School, College and University.
  • Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes and operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to other administrative team members.

Salary package: $100,847 - $116,083 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full time, Fixed Term (up to 15 months)

The ANU School of Computing is seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior School Administrator to join our professional staff team for a 15-month fixed-term appointment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys working in a busy, collaborative environment and providing high-quality support to staff, students and the School Executive. The Senior School Administrator plays an important role in supporting the effective day-to-day operations of the School, providing high-level administrative coordination and advice across a broad range of activities.

About the role

Working closely with the School’s professional and academic staff, the Senior School Administrator will provide high-quality administrative support and coordination across the School.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Coordination of hiring process for the School’s Casual Sessional Academics (CSA / tutors) each Semester. This involves advertising, liaising with academic Conveners, arranging interviews, processing of onboarding paperwork in collaboration with HR, activation of tutor timesheets and managing tutor budgets throughout the semester.
  • Coordinating a range of School activities, meetings, events and administrative processes.
    Providing advice and assistance to academic and professional staff on University policies, procedures and administrative requirements.
  • Supporting recruitment, appointments, onboarding and other staffing-related processes.
  • Coordinating travel, purchasing, financial administration and reimbursements.
  • Preparing correspondence, documentation, reports and other administrative materials.
  • Managing competing priorities and ensuring deadlines and administrative requirements are met.
  • Building effective working relationships with stakeholders across the School, College and wider University.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes and contribute to the efficient operation of the School.
  • Providing guidance and support to other administrative team members as required.
About you

We are looking for someone who is proactive, approachable and highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

This is a highly interactive role where no two days are quite the same. On any given day, you will work with a diverse range of people across the School and University, including academic and professional staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, visitors and other internal and external stakeholders.

You will need to be someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and is comfortable being a key point of contact for a wide variety of enquiries, requests and situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt your approach depending on who you are working with.
