Job summary

WSP is seeking a Rolling Stock Engineer or Senior Rolling Stock Engineer in Western Australia to support complex passenger and freight rail projects. You will lead engineering activities across the asset lifecycle, deliver technical assurance, and collaborate with clients, operators and manufacturers to achieve safe, reliable rolling stock solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and typically 3 to 10+ years’ experience in rolling stock.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic or related Engineering discipline.
• Typically 3–10+ years' experience in rolling stock engineering (design, maintenance, assurance or rail systems).
• Knowledge of braking systems, bogies, traction equipment, HVAC, train control technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead rolling stock engineering activities across the asset lifecycle (design, manufacture, testing, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades, service introduction).
• Provide technical assurance through review and endorsement of designs and system integration solutions.
• Collaborate with clients, operators, maintainers and manufacturers to deliver project outcomes.
• Manage engineering work packages including scope, programme, risk and budget considerations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces to ensure safe, reliable rolling stock solutions.
• Contribute expertise across asset management, maintenance strategies and lifecycle planning.
