Job summary

City of Darwin is seeking a highly motivated (Senior) Risk and Performance Advisor to join our Corporate and Customer Service team in Darwin, Australia. This full-time permanent role reports to the Risk Management Coordinator and focuses on governance, risk, compliance, and performance across the organisation.

You will lead or support insurance claims, deliver performance reporting, risk assessments, internal audit support, and governance improvements.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Risk, Governance or equivalent qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in claims management, corporate governance, risk management, or a related role (Level 6 requires 1 year leading relevant programs)
  • Ability to obtain a National Criminal History Check
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Experience working within a local government environment

Responsibilities

  • Deliver risk reporting and facilitate operational risk assessments across the organisation.
  • Support internal audit programs and monitor audit recommendations.

  • Monitor policy and procedure reviews to ensure compliance and good governance.
  • Support emergency management activities and disaster recovery funding programs when required.

City of Darwin is seeking a highly motivated (Senior) Risk and Performance Advisor to join our Corporate and Customer Service team. This is an exciting opportunity for a governance, compliance, risk, or performance professional who enjoys working across multiple disciplines and influencing organisational excellence.

About the Role

Reporting to the Risk Management Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing City of Darwin's corporate performance, risk management, internal audit, compliance, insurance and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively across the organisation to:

  • Lead or support insurance claims management and annual insurance renewals.

About You

You bring a strong understanding of corporate governance and risk management, sound written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a high level of ICT literacy are essential to the role. You must be comfortable working autonomously, and experience in local government will be highly regarded.
