Job summary

Sonder is seeking an experienced engineer to join the Commercial function in Sydney. You’ll build and maintain revenue data structures and Snowflake models, and move AI-powered automations from prototype to reliable production, with strong focus on accuracy and governance.

You’ll collaborate directly with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success and Finance, own end-to-end data pipelines, and help scale our data-driven revenue operations as we grow across APAC and beyond.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software, data or integration engineering.
• 2+ years as sole or primary engineer accountable for a production system.
• Experience integrating business systems via REST APIs, webhooks, and serverless functions, including at least one CRM or billing platform.
• dbt SQL modelling in production against a cloud warehouse, with tests and CI.
• Experience with at least one CRM or billing platform.
• Ability to work directly with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success and Finance to understand processes.

About the Role

This is a newly created role inside the Commercial function. Reporting to the VP Commercial, you'll build and maintain the revenue data structures and models running in Snowflake, and take automations and AI agents built by the business from prototype to safe, reliable production.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years in software, data or integration engineering
• At least 2 years as the sole or primary engineer accountable for a system in production: scoping, building, operating, documenting and maintaining
• A track record of building and running integrations between business systems using REST APIs, webhooks and serverless functions, including at least one CRM or billing platform
• dbt (or equivalent) SQL modelling in production against a cloud warehouse, ideally Snowflake, with tests and CI, used to reconcile and govern data across multiple systems
• Have taken at least one LLM-backed or agentic automation from prototype to production, with evaluation, monitoring, fallbacks and cost controls, and can talk through what didn't work the first time
• Comfortable being the only engineer in the room, and confident working directly with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success and Finance to understand the process behind each request

Nice-to-Haves

• Python or TypeScript for backend and pipeline work
• Comfortable operating in GCP or AWS for production workloads
• Working knowledge of revenue data models, and how commercial entities relate across CRM and billing systems
• CPQ, quote-to-cash or contract-to-billing integration experience
• Experience with iPaaS at scale
• Exposure to ISO 27001 controls, DPAs or data residency requirements in a regulated or health-adjacent business
• Experience working alongside GTM, RevOps, Sales Ops, Marketing Ops or Customer Ops teams
