Job summary

Endeavour Engineering seeks a Senior Remedial Engineer to lead projects from inspection to remedial design across Sydney, Illawarra, Central Coast and regional NSW. Based in Western Sydney, you will guide investigations, deliver technical reports, and direct remedial solutions with independent professional judgement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; relevant field experience.
• Extensive experience in remedial/structural/forensic engineering with independent project leadership.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, structural behaviour, waterproofing and remedial construction methods.
• Working knowledge of the National Construction Code and Australian Standards.
• Excellent technical writing to produce clear, evidence-based reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience preparing reports for building defect disputes or litigation preferred.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain client relationships, and provide technical leadership in a small team.
• Chartered status or professional registrations viewed favourably.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Remedial Engineer to join our growing organisation on a full-time basis. Based in our Western Sydney office, you will lead projects across Sydney, the Illawarra, the Central Coast, and regional NSW.

This role is suited to an engineer with strong technical expertise in building diagnostics, defect investigations, waterproofing, and remedial design. You will take responsibility for projects from initial inspection and investigation through to technical reporting and remedial design documentation, applying independent professional judgement to complex building problems.

Alongside project delivery, you will provide technical guidance to the team, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the quality and consistency of our engineering advice. You will work directly with clients and other stakeholders, translating technical findings into clear recommendations and practical repair strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead building inspections and defect investigations across residential, commercial, and industrial properties, including developing investigation scopes, assessing site conditions, analysing evidence, and identifying the causes of defects.

• Prepare and review technical reports presenting findings, engineering analysis, conclusions, and remedial recommendations, including reports supporting dispute resolution and litigation matters.

• Lead remedial design development, particularly for waterproofing, water ingress, and durability issues, producing practical solutions supported by clear drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

• Coordinate with our in-house drafting team to develop and review remedial and regulated design drawings, ensuring documentation accurately communicates the design intent.

• Manage project delivery, including scope, programme, budgets, site access, and coordination with contractors and specialist consultants.

• Build and maintain client relationships, providing clear technical advice and communicating project progress, findings, and recommendations.

• Provide technical review and quality assurance across reports and drawings, checking the supporting evidence, engineering reasoning, clarity, and consistency with Endeavour Engineering standards.

• Mentor graduate and junior engineers, supporting their development in site investigations, technical reporting, remedial design, and professional judgement.

Qualifications & Experience

• A completed Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Substantial relevant experience in remedial, structural, or forensic engineering, with demonstrated capability in independently leading building defect investigations and remedial design projects.

• Strong knowledge of building construction, structural behaviour, waterproofing systems, deterioration mechanisms, and remedial construction methods.

• Sound working knowledge of the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards, and requirements applicable to your area of practice.

• Excellent technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, logical, and evidence-based reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience preparing reports for building defect disputes or litigation will be viewed favourably.

• Demonstrated ability to manage competing project priorities, maintain client relationships, and provide technical leadership within a small team.

• Chartered status and relevant professional registrations will be viewed favourably.

• A current driver’s licence and access to a car.

• Willingness to travel to project sites, including locations outside metropolitan Sydney.

• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.

• Current Australian work authorisation at the time of application.
