Job summary

Public Sector People (PSP) in Australia seeks a Senior Recruitment Consultant to join our Government team and become a trusted retained search and selection specialist. You will lead engagements, win assignments and deliver a structured process from briefing through to appointment.

You will develop client relationships, operate with urgency and contribute to a high-performing team within a hybrid work model and broad Public Sector network.

Senior Recruitment Consultant – Government Search & Selection

At Public Sector People (PSP), we build meaningful partnerships and deliver recruitment processes that create lasting value for our clients, candidates and communities.

We are looking for a driven Senior Recruitment Consultant to join our high-performing Government team and develop a career as a trusted retained search and selection specialist.

This role is about more than filling vacancies. You will get in front of clients, understand their challenges, demonstrate why they should work with PSP and then deliver a structured, high-quality recruitment process from briefing through to appointment.

You will be expected to win your own work and take full ownership of its delivery, supported by an established Public Sector brand, an extensive client base and an experienced team with a strong record of success.

Who This Opportunity Will Suit

You may already be working in retained search and selection, or you may be a high-performing contingent recruiter who is ready for a different way of working.

We have seen excellent contingent recruiters become highly successful search and selection consultants because they are commercially driven, comfortable creating opportunities and able to operate with urgency. What changes is the opportunity to work more strategically: developing trusted client relationships, properly understanding each assignment and delivering a considered process rather than relying on volume-based CV activity.

Experience recruiting within NSW Government, Local Government or the broader Public Sector would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We are equally interested in accomplished recruiters from other sectors who can demonstrate strong business development capability, disciplined delivery and the motivation to build a specialist market.
