Job summary

SMEC is actively seeking a Senior Engineer / Project Manager to lead end-to-end Rail infrastructure projects. You will manage complex programs, provide strategic oversight, and drive multi-disciplinary teams across major rail initiatives in Australia.

The role supports flexible, hybrid working arrangements in Sydney locations. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of rail project delivery experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to manage scope, risk and client expectations while

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience delivering Rail infrastructure projects within an engineering design consultancy.
• Minimum 8+ years’ experience managing Rail infrastructure projects.
• High level communication skills to advise and guide project design development and represent the SMEC design team.
• Extensive experience in management, design and delivery of complex multi-disciplinary projects of national significance.
• Successfully monitored and managed scope and risk of multiple complex projects and built key client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and governance of complex projects to achieve outcomes in design, timeliness and quality.
• Source, build and maintain strong client relationships through project delivery and targeted activities.
• Provide leadership to employees on the project for cohesion, performance and development.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain quality, timeliness and coordination of deliverables.
• Contribute to commercial success and drive business development activities.
• Support bids, tenders and proposals with internal teams to align with client requirements.
