Job summary

Hatch is seeking a senior civil/structural engineer to lead transport infrastructure design for a rail-focused portfolio in Newcastle, NSW. The role requires delivering high-quality design, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs, and supporting tendering and execution across projects.

You will leverage experience in structural analysis tools and BIM standards while guiding junior staff and engaging with clients to meet timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Civil/structural engineering degree with 10+ years delivering civil/structural design.
• Proven experience in transport infrastructure design and delivery.
• Client-facing roles and ability to work across disciplines.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, codes and design guidelines.
• Excellent communication, safety focus and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural and civil design for infrastructure projects.
• Oversee project models in line with BIM standards.
• Coordinate structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural inputs.
• Provide sketches and markups to assist design documentation.
• Compile calculation packages and prepare project reports.
• Assist with proposal development and bid submissions.
• Liaise with clients to meet requirements and timelines.
• Undertake site inspections to verify conditions for accurate design.
• Ensure documentation complies with standards, codes and client specs.
• Support project delivery to meet programme, quality and budget objectives.
• Undertake drawing checks and design reviews.
