Job summary

Hatch is seeking an Intermediate Rail Civil Engineer to contribute to civil and structural design across rail and transport infrastructure projects in Newcastle, NSW. You will support from concept through detailed design and execution within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on safe, practical, and sustainable solutions.

You will hold a civil/structural engineering degree with about five years of transport infrastructure experience, and be proficient in design packages such as Strand7, MIDAS

Qualifications

• Requires civil/structural engineering degree and ~5 years’ transport infrastructure experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural design for infrastructure projects (concrete, steel, civil structures).
• Oversee project models per BIM standards.
• Review general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, steelwork drawings, and schedules.
• Coordinate inputs from structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams.
• Prepare calculation packages and project reports.
• Liaise with clients to meet requirements and deadlines.
• Conduct site inspections as needed to verify conditions for accurate design.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and quality procedures.
• Assist project delivery to meet schedule, quality and budget targets.
• Perform drawing checks and design reviews.
