Blackbook Recruitment partners with an established EPC contractor in the renewables sector to recruit a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major HV Substation EPC project in NSW, including a 120 MW BESS integration and connection to the HV transmission network.

You will oversee engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and handover, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery for a high-profile infrastructure program.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of major HV Substation EPC project.
• Establish execution plans, programmes, budgets, governance and reporting.
• Manage HV electrical infrastructure, substation construction, grid connection and BESS interfaces.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and provide direction and support to other Project Managers.
• Own project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, cash flow, cost-to-complete, margin and variations.
• Manage project programmes, critical paths, milestones, interfaces and recovery strategies.
• Oversee civil, electrical, protection, control systems, SCADA and HV commissioning activities.
• Manage EPC contracts, subcontractors, variations, claims and commercial risks.
• Build relationships with clients, network operators, consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, environmental, technical and regulatory requirements.
• Lead commissioning, testing, energisation and project handover through to commercial operation.

Senior Project Manager – HV Substation Delivery

An established and growingEPC contractorwithin theRenewablesector is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of major High Voltage (HV) Substation EPC project within NSW. The immediate focus will be a major 120MW/480MWh Utility-Scale BESS project in North West NSW, with significant responsibility for delivering the associated HV Substation infrastructure and connection into an existing HV transmission network.

The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of major HV Substation, 120 MW BESS + BOP managing all aspects of engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and handover.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of major HV Substation EPC project.

About You

You will be an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background delivering HV Substation projects.

You will ideally bring:

• Demonstrated experience delivering multiple HV Substation EPC projects.
• Strong technical understanding of HV electrical infrastructure, substation construction and grid connections.
• Proven experience managing projects through the full lifecycle from engineering and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Exposure to renewable energy, utility‑scale BESS, transmission or distribution infrastructure.
• Strong commercial capability, including budgets, forecasting, cost control, variations and claims.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and other Project Managers.
• Strong programme and project controls experience, including critical path management and recovery planning.
• Experience managing EPC contractors, subcontractors, OEMs and key stakeholders.
• A sound understanding of HSE, quality and environmental requirements across major infrastructure projects.
• The ability to manage complex interfaces, solve delivery challenges and drive project outcomes.
