Job summary

seek.com.au is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead civil package delivery on a Tier 1 infrastructure project in Western Sydney. You will own programs, coordination with head contractors and manage earthworks, drainage, and utility installs.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 6+ years of civil construction experience, with a track record in major projects and subcontract administration. Based on-site with a strong forward order book and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years' experience in civil construction.
• Delivery experience on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong exposure to earthworks, drainage and utilities.
• Knowledge of quality systems and subcontract administration.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day engineering delivery of earthworks, drainage and utilities.
• Interface with Tier 1 contractor on programme, design, quality and commercial matters.
• Prepare and manage progress claims, variations and quantity tracking.
• Prepare and maintain construction programmes and monitor progress.
• Oversee quality systems including ITPs, lot management and NCRs.
• Review design docs, raise RFIs and coordinate with surveyors.
• Coordinate with service authorities on utility installations and approvals.
• Support site team with construction methodologies and temporary works.
• Uphold WHS and environmental standards, including SWMS review.
• Mentor and develop Project and Site Engineers.

Our client is a well-established civil subcontractor specialising in earthworks, drainage and utility infrastructure. They've built a strong reputation with Australia's leading Tier 1 contractors for safe, high-quality delivery on complex major projects. With a strong forward order book and continued growth, they're looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their delivery team.

About the role

As the Senior Project Engineer you'll take ownership of the delivery of a civil package on a Tier 1 major infrastructure project in Western Sydney. The scope covers bulk and detailed earthworks, stormwater drainage and utility services installation.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Project Engineer

• Managing day-to-day engineering delivery of earthworks, drainage and utilities scopes
• Interfacing with the Tier 1 head contractor on programme, design, quality and commercial matters
• Preparing and managing progress claims, variations and quantity tracking against the subcontract
• Preparing and maintaining construction programmes and monitoring progress against baseline
• Managing quality systems including ITPs, lot management, hold and witness points, conformance records and NCRs
• Reviewing design documentation, raising RFIs and coordinating with surveyors and design teams
• Coordinating with service authorities on utility installations, relocations and approvals
• Supporting the site team with construction methodologies, work packs and temporary works requirements
• Upholding WHS and environmental standards, including SWMS review and compliance
• Mentoring and developing Project and Site Engineers

What you can bring as the Senior Project Engineer

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years' experience in civil construction, ideally with a subcontractor or Tier 1 contractor
• Proven delivery experience across earthworks, drainage and/or utilities on major infrastructure projects
• Strong commercial understanding, including claims, variations and subcontract administration
• Sound knowledge of quality management and lot-based conformance processes
• Experience working to TfNSW specifications
• Confident communicator who can hold their own with head contractors and clients
• Current White Card and driver's licence
