Job summary

Macro Metals is hiring a Senior Project Engineer based in Perth to lead project controls and technical delivery on a major Pilbara mining project. You will own scope, cost, schedule, and quality from initiation to handover, acting as the single source of truth for project performance data.

Office-based in West Perth; fixed-term contract, minimum 12 months. You will manage cost plans, master scheduling, change control, and client reporting while providing engineering oversight across civil

Qualifications

• 8–10 years in mining, civil or resources projects with cost control and scheduling experience.
• Engineering degree (Civil or Mining) or Project Management.
• Track record delivering for Tier-1 mining clients within project controls and reporting frameworks.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 or MS Project; advanced Excel for cost modelling.
• Experience with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 at project level.
• Knowledge of WA WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Experience with civil earthworks, mine closure or rehabilitation; PMP/CPPM or Engineers Australia membership a plus.

Senior Project Engineer | Perth-Based | Tier-1 Mining Project

You've probably spent years switching hats. Cost reports one day, a P6 schedule the next, engineering deliverables in between, usually answering to three different people. This role brings all three together under one title and hands you genuine end-to-end ownership of project delivery, on a major project for a Tier-1 client.

Macro Mining Services is the civil and contract mining arm of Macro Metals Limited (ASX: M4M). We deliver civils & earthmoving, pit-to-customer mining services, rehabilitation and exploration support across Western Australia's major mining regions, and we're known for being straight with clients and disciplined in our delivery.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Project Engineer to lead project controls and technical delivery on a significant project in the Pilbara, working within a Tier-1 major mining company’s systems and standards.

This is an integrated role: project engineering, cost control and planning/scheduling consolidated into a single point of accountability. You'll own scope, cost, schedule, and quality from project initiation through to close-out and handover and act as the single authoritative source of project performance data. Office based in West Perth, Fixed-term contract, minimum 12 months.

Key responsibilities

• Own the project cost plan, budget and cost-to-complete forecasts, with monthly actual-versus-budget variance analysis, earned value and forecast at completion (FAC) reporting
• Build and maintain the master schedule in Primavera P6 or MS Project — critical path, float, resource loading — and issue 3- and 6-week look-aheads to site superintendents and project managers
• Manage scope definition, change control and a live change register, ensuring variations are priced, approved and contractually documented per claims process before work proceeds
• Weekly and monthly progress reporting against schedule and budget
• Provide engineering oversight across civil earthworks and rehabilitation scopes, to approved design and client standards
• Lead quality assurance — ITP compliance, hold-point sign-offs, non-conformance reporting and corrective action close-out — through to commissioning, handover and as-built records
• Process purchase orders, invoices and subcontractor claims through client portals (e.g. Ariba, Aconex), Macro accounts systems in line with the delegation of authority
• Serve as the primary technical interface with the client, preparing monthly performance reports to their format and cadence

About you

• 8–10 years across mining, civil or resources projects, with demonstrated competence in cost control, planning/scheduling and project engineering
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil or Mining related) or Project Management
• A track record delivering for Tier-1 mining clients within their project controls and reporting frameworks
• Proficient in Primavera P6 or MS Project, plus advanced Excel for cost modelling and variance reporting
• Experience operating within ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified management systems at project level
• Sound working knowledge of the WHS Act 2020 (WA) and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022
• Right to work in Australia
• Experience with civil earthworks, mine closure or progressive rehabilitation, familiarity with enterprise/Tier-1 accounts/project platforms, PMP or AIPM CPPM certification, or Engineers Australia membership (or working towards CPEng) will all count in your favour.
