RSG Recruitment Aust Pty Ltd is sourcing a Senior Project Engineer for a major civil/infrastructure project in Melbourne. This senior, site-based role offers significant autonomy and requires delivering engineering quality, commercial performance and team development alongside the Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in civil/infrastructure, strong contract administration, and proven leadership of engineers on complex work packages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years' civil/infrastructure experience with leadership.
• Proven track record delivering complex work packages on major projects.
• Strong contract administration, commercial and negotiation skills.
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop engineering staff.
• Current Victorian driver's license and White Card.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication at leadership level.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for engineering and delivery across multiple work packages.
• Lead problem solving, design coordination and constructability reviews.
• Own subcontractor and supply chain performance, manage variations.
• Drive program, cost and quality outcomes and report to Project Manager.
• Lead and develop Project Engineers and Site Engineers.
• Oversee contract administration including RFIs, variations and claims.
• Ensure WHS, environmental and quality compliance on site.
• Represent the project in client and stakeholder meetings.
• Contribute to project planning and lessons-learned processes.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead technical and delivery management across multiple work packages on a major civil/infrastructure project in Melbourne. This is a senior, site-based role with significant autonomy, responsible for engineering quality, commercial performance and the development of a broader project engineering team, working closely with the Project Manager on overall project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for engineering and delivery performance across multiple work packages.
• Lead technical problem-solving, design coordination and constructability reviews.
• Own subcontractor and supply chain performance across assigned scope, including negotiation of scope and variations.
• Drive program, cost and quality outcomes and report project performance to the Project Manager.
• Lead and develop Project Engineers and Site Engineers, including performance and technical mentoring.
• Oversee contract administration for assigned scope, including RFIs, variations and claims.
• Ensure compliance with project WHS, environmental and quality management systems, and lead safety culture on site.
• Represent the project in client, design and stakeholder meetings as required.
• Contribute to project planning, staged handover strategy and lessons-learned processes.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• 8+ years' experience in civil, infrastructure or building construction, including team leadership.
• Demonstrated track record delivering complex work packages on major projects.
• Strong contract administration, commercial and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop engineering staff.
• Current Victorian driver's licence and construction industry White Card.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at project leadership level.
