Job summary

James Hardie in Sydney is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the product strategy and lifecycle, collaborating with R&D, operations, engineering, sales, and marketing to meet revenue and customer satisfaction goals.

You will drive pricing, market research, and cross-functional initiatives, delivering profitable products while aligning with the company’s 7P framework and long-term goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in Product Management and/or Engineering.
  • Experience in strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering.
  • Technical experience in product development, operations, or related field.
  • Proven experience launching and managing products through lifecycle.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to align with multiple functions and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, planning, delivery and continuous improvement of products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives leveraging product opportunities across business units.
  • Develop and deploy a coherent product strategy via a 7P's framework for a product range.
  • Define product positioning and value propositions to maximise value.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and R&D to deliver enhancements and line extensions.
  • Drive profitability by identifying growth opportunities and cost optimisations.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and risks.
  • Monitor pricing strategy in collaboration with Finance on discounts and rebates.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from inception to end-of-life with 7P alignment.
  • Support Head of Category in forecasting and demand planning.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle, including gathering and prioritising product and key stakeholder requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with R&D, operations, engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. This role also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the strategy, planning, delivery and continuous improvement of products throughout their lifecycle
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that leverage product opportunities across the business, operations and market
  • In conjunction with segment and marketing, develop and deploy a coherent product strategy via 7 P's for a given product range. Leverage PDCA principles to monitor progress and work functionally to address performance off track to plan
  • Define product positioning and value propositions to maximise customer and business value
  • Partner with Commercial and R&D teams to deliver product enhancements and line extensions from concept through to commercialisation
  • Drive product profitability by identifying growth opportunities, value-added solutions and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities and risks, and develop strategies to strengthen market position
  • Monitor the market for pricing, manage and execute the pricing strategy for specific products including working with finance on discounts and rebates
  • Manage the entire product life cycle for specific products from inception to end-of-life, ensuring alignment with the 7P's (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, Physical evidence) to maximise market impact and profitability
  • Support the Head of Category in effective category management including forecasting and demand planning and ensuring key targets are met
What you'll bring
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Product Management &/or Engineering
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution of key business initiatives from conception to implementation, with a focus on driving cross functional collaboration
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering is highly advantageous
  • Technical experience in product development, operations, or a related field
  • Proven experience in successfully developing, launching and managing products throughout their lifecycle
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to draw on diverse inputs to develop and communicate a robust strategy, with clear cascaded tactics planned and executed
  • Demonstrated ability to interface and drive alignment with various functions within a business
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution
