Job summary

James Hardie Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an Import & Export Team Leader to oversee daily import/export operations, coordinate freight documentation, and liaise with carriers to keep coastal and international shipments moving safely and efficiently.

You will lead a team, ensure compliance with health, safety and CoR standards, drive service excellence, and partner with stakeholders to deliver accurate orders and great customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in warehousing, distribution, export operations
• Forklift licence (LF) and demonstrated safe forklift operation
• Previous Leading Hand or Team Leader experience desirable
• Strong knowledge of export and distribution operations
• Understanding of CoR and HVNL obligations
• Proficient with WMS/TMS and MS Office
• Commitment to safety and compliance and coaching a team

Responsibilities

• Lead a safe, compliant import/export operation across coastal freight and distribution
• Oversee daily import/export activities, documentation, carrier coordination, and stakeholder liaison
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and service quality across the operation
• Coach and develop the Import & Export team and resolve day-to-day issues
• Coordinate packing, unloading, inventory handling, and stock control with accuracy

The Opportunity

Whatyou’lldo

• Lead a safe and compliant import/export operation by ensuring adherence to health, safety, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and operational standards, whilemaintaininga strong safety-first culture.
• Monitor compliance activities, equipment inspections, and incident management processes, driving correctiveactionsand continuous improvement across the distribution operation.
• Lead the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all import, export, and coastal freight activities, ensuringaccurateorder fulfilment, documentation, and adherence to customer, carrier, customs, and quarantine requirements.
• Coordinate packing, unloading, inventory handling, and stakeholder relationships to ensuretimelyfreight movements, operational efficiency, anda high levelof customer service.
• Lead, coach, and support the Import & Export team to ensure safe, efficient operations, capability development, and achievement of daily priorities.
• Act as the primary operational contact for the team, resolving day-to-day issues and escalating people, compliance, or operational matters asrequired.
• Support warehouse administration and inventory management activities, ensuringaccuratestock control, system transactions within WMS/TMS, record keeping, and audit compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifyingoperational inefficiencies, improving processes, and ensuring a strong focus on safety, compliance, service quality, and customer satisfaction.

Whatyou’llbring

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in warehousing, distribution, export operations, administration,or customer service
• Valid ForkliftLicence(LF) anddemonstratedsafe forklift operation in export/warehouse settings
• Previousexperience in a Leading Hand or Team Leader capacity is desirable
• Strong knowledge of export and distribution operations
• Sound understanding of road transport safety,CoR, and compliance obligations
• Strong packing and unpacking experience: pallet configuration, weight distribution, load restraint, and export-ready presentation
• Knowledge of export processes: bookings, carrier cut-offs, and basic customs/quarantine export requirements
• Comfortable with WMS/TMS and MS Office (Excel/Outlook); scanner/RF workflows
• Commitment to safety and compliance, with the ability to reinforce safebehaviorsand supportHeavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)obligations through team leadership
