Job summary

The Tasmania Government seeks a Forestry Specialist to coordinate maintenance and upgrading of the Private Forest Resource Inventory and to evaluate land for Private Timber Reserves under the Forest Practices Act. You will administer the reserves application process for the Forest Practices Board and provide information and training to stakeholders on sustainable private forest management.

A tertiary degree and 10+ years of forestry experience are required, along with a current driver’s licence

• Tertiary degree in a related field required.
• At least 10 years’ forestry experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the maintenance and upgrading of the Private Forest Resource Inventory, and surveys to monitor forests on private land.
• Evaluate and recommend land for Private Timber Reserves under the Forest Practices Act for the Forest Practices Board.
• Administer the private forest timber reserves application process under the Forest Practices Act.
• Provide information, training and education to stakeholders on sustainable private forest management.
