Job description

Forico has custodianship of around 172,000 hectares of land across Tasmania. This includes 88,000 hectares of globally certified plantation managed for wood fibre production, 77,000 hectares of natural vegetation areas managed for environmental, social and cultural values, with the balance as infrastructure and other uses. We strongly believe that sustainable plantation forestry and nature-positive environmental management is essential in the mitigation of climate change and the transition to a carbon neutral economy.

About the Opportunity:

Forico has proposed a Plantation Hardwood Sawmill, to be located at Surrey Hills in Tasmania’s North West, adjacent to the company’s existing woodchip mill. This new sawmill represents a substantial investment by Forico in Tasmania’s plantation hardwood supply chain and is expected to be fully operational by early 2028. The project strengthens and builds diversification for the company and brings substantial benefits for the industry and regional community.

About You:

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious manager seeking a role where their manufacturing leadership experience can be fully utilised. Previous high-level operations experience in the Timber Industry, preferably sawmilling, is desirable as this operation will rely on advanced scanning technology, computer-controlled optimisation and integrated process automation.

Relevant industry qualifications supported by technical competency, sound commercial acumen and previous capital project implementation experience will be highly regarded. Your personal qualities should encompass proven leadership ability, relationship building and influencing skills.
