Job summary

Limber Recruitment is seeking experienced Senior Privacy and Information Lawyers for a Commonwealth Agency secondment across Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney. The role focuses on advising under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and secrecy provisions, with a Baseline Clearance required.

You'll work as part of the in-house legal team, engaging senior executives and stakeholders to provide guidance on privacy law, data exchanges, and governance, including PTAs and PIAs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Senior Privacy and Information Lawyers - Baseline Clearance - $900 to $1400 daily rate including super - Initial secondment to May 2027 - Canberra Brisbane Melbourne Sydney locations available

The Role

We currently have a secondment opportunities available for experienced Senior Privacy and Information Lawyers within a high profile Commonwealth Agency. Ideal candidates will have skills and experience in advising on thePrivacy Act 1988(Cth) and secrecy provisions.

The Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Department’s in-house legal team. High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas, including briefing senior executives.

The secondee will be required to advise on:

secrecy provisions;

privacy assurance processes such as Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs);

privacy law legal advice;

information and data exchanges, data sharing and governance (including third party data access arrangements and data matching); and

general advice on privacy and information law.

The Requirements

A current practising certificate and extensive Commonwealth government experience providing legal advice under thePrivacy Act 1988(Cth) is essential.
