Job summary

Limber Legal seeks experienced Senior Privacy and Information Lawyers for secondment opportunities with a high profile Commonwealth Agency in Australia. The ideal candidate will advise on the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and secrecy provisions, and join the in-house legal team to support privacy governance.

Applicants must be Australian citizens with a Baseline Security Clearance and be prepared to engage with senior executives and a broad client base on privacy and information law issues.

Qualifications

• A current practising certificate and extensive Commonwealth government experience providing legal advice under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) is essential.
• Applicants must be Australian citizens and have a current Baseline Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice as a secondee within the Department’s in-house legal team.
• Engage with stakeholders and brief senior executives.
• Advise on secrecy provisions.
• Advise on privacy assurance processes such as PTAs and PIAs.
• Advise on privacy law and information law.
• Advise on information and data exchanges, data sharing and governance.

The Role

We currently have a secondment opportunities available for experienced Senior Privacy and Information Lawyers within a high profile Commonwealth Agency. Ideal candidates will have skills and experience in advising on the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and secrecy provisions.

The Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Department’s in-house legal team. High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas, including briefing senior executives.

The secondee will be required to advise on:

• secrecy provisions;
• privacy assurance processes such as Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs);
• privacy law legal advice;
• information and data exchanges, data sharing and governance (including third party data access arrangements and data matching); and
• general advice on privacy and information law.

The Requirements
