Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

An established building services consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Perth team.

This is a particularly strong opportunity for an accomplished HVAC engineer who has reached a point in their career where they are ready for greater leadership, commercial and team management responsibility.

Working alongside and with the support of the existing Mechanical Lead, you will initially take a senior technical role within the business before progressively developing into a position where you will lead a team of approximately six Mechanical Engineers.

The Opportunity

This role offers considerably more than simply delivering mechanical designs.

As you develop within the position, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical leadership across mechanical building services projects
• Supporting, mentoring and ultimately leading a team of six Mechanical Engineers
• Reviewing designs and ensuring a high standard of technical delivery
• Managing projects from concept and design through to construction
• Building strong relationships with existing clients
• Becoming increasingly involved in business development and work winning
• Identifying opportunities to grow key client accounts and secure new projects
• Supporting resource planning, project allocation and team development
• Working closely with the Mechanical Lead on the continued growth of the discipline

About You

We are interested in speaking with Mechanical Engineers who have:

• Approximately 8+ years' experience within mechanical building services/HVAC engineering
• Experience within an Australian building services consultancy environment
• Strong technical knowledge across mechanical building services
• The ability to manage projects and communicate confidently with clients
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
• Commercial awareness and an interest in developing client relationships
• A genuine ambition to move into team and discipline leadership

You may already be operating at Principal level, or you could be a strong Senior Engineer who feels ready for the next step but hasn't been given the opportunity within your current organisation.

Previous formal team leadership or business development experience isn't essential. More important is having the technical credibility, communication skills and ambition to develop these areas with the support of an established leader.
