Job summary

LGT Wealth Management Australia is seeking a Principal Engineer to set technical direction and strengthen how software is designed, built and run across the Australian wealth platform. You will lead through code, design reviews and mentoring while owning the quality of systems in production.

You will work with Enterprise Architecture, product and delivery teams, ensuring secure, resilient and maintainable solutions across APIs, data models and integrations.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering and hands-on leadership.
• Experience as principal, staff, or senior technical lead.
• Cloud-native development with Azure and/or AWS.
• Proficient in at least one modern language (C#/.NET, Java, TS or Python).
• Strong focus on security-by-design and DevSecOps.

Responsibilities

• Set engineering direction and standards aligned with enterprise architecture.
• Lead design of complex systems, APIs, data models, and integrations.
• Contribute production-quality code and prototypes.
• Improve engineering paved road: templates, pipelines, libraries.
• Drive reliability via observability, incident reviews and SLIs.
• Mentor engineers and influence across teams and vendors.
• Collaborate with CTO, Enterprise Architect, and Group tech teams.
• Assess vendor/SaaS platforms for technical fit and security posture.
• Foster a strong engineering culture and responsible AI tooling.
