Job summary

GE Vernova's Electrification Software in Sydney is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Architect – Power Systems to govern the design and integration of complex power generation and industrial electrification systems. You will bridge business objectives with technical execution, leading the architecture from concept through to commissioning.

You will act as the primary technical coordinator, ensuring our systems meet high‑performance standards in safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Power Systems, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 12–15+ years of experience in power generation, EPC projects, or transmission & distribution infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of inside-the-fenceline equipment and industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC, NFPA).
• Proven success in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex technical interfaces.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence executive leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Governance: Develop and standardize reference architectures for power generation, data centers, microgrids, and hybrid plants.
• Technical Integration: Lead the integration of inside-the-fence-line assets (Gas Turbines, BESS, STATCOMs, substations, and electrical gear).
• Requirements Management: Define system baselines, interface definitions, and validation strategies (FAT/SAT).
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with internal business units and external stakeholders to drive technical alignment.
• Performance Validation: Review power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash) to ensure design integrity.
• Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, advancing systems engineering best practices across the organization.
