Job summary

Kingston City Council is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the PMO & Major Projects, overseeing capital works planning, governance, budgeting and delivery of major projects. You will guide strategy, provide advice to senior leaders and councillors, and build capability across the organisation.

The role focuses on delivering sustainable community outcomes, leading an accountable team, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture within a dynamic local government setting.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading PMO functions and major capital infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of governance, portfolio management, risk, and benefits realisation.
• Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage organisational change.
• Ability to analyse complex issues and provide evidence-based advice.
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Project Management or related discipline; PMP/AC accreditation desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the PMO & Major Projects function and develop capable, high performing teams.
• Oversee project governance and delivery of the capital works portfolio and major projects.
• Provide clear advice on performance, investment priorities, risks and opportunities.
• Strengthen project management frameworks, systems and capability across Council.
• Build partnerships with business units, government, industry and community.
• Drive continuous improvement and benefits realisation for council outcomes.
