Job summary

LGT Wealth Management Australia is seeking a Principal Engineer to set technical direction across core wealth platforms and integrations. You will work with enterprise architecture, product and delivery teams to deliver secure, resilient systems and mentor engineers, while staying hands-on in code and architecture decisions.

Reporting to the CTO, this senior role emphasizes leading through design, reviews, and pragmatic modernization, with a broad impact on the engineering culture and technology

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience (typically 12+ years), including significant experience setting technical direction across multiple teams as a principal, staff or senior technical lead.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern programming language (C#/.NET, Java, TypeScript or Python) with a strong production coding track record.
• Strong distributed systems design across APIs, event-driven integrations, data models, performance and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Set and evolve engineering direction, standards and practices aligned to enterprise architecture.
• Lead design of complex systems and services with clear API/data model decisions.
• Stay hands-on by writing production-grade code and building prototypes.
• Improve the engineering paved road: templates, libraries, CI/CD, IaC modules.
• Champion reliability with observability, SLOs and incident reviews.
• Embed secure-by-design and DevSecOps practices with Security teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring standards and culture.
