Job summary

Bendigo Bank is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer for its Wealth technology domain. You will provide technical leadership across multiple squads, bridging business strategy with robust engineering solutions across COBOL, .NET, Java, and SQL.

You will drive architectural direction, oversee critical wealth system enhancements, and promote best practices in testing, observability, security, and CI/CD while mentoring engineers at all levels.

Qualifications

• Experience in software architecture and large-scale platform evolution.
• Hands-on engineering with COBOL, .NET, Java and SQL.
• Knowledge of consumer wealth operations including leveraged equities/margin lending and fund management.
• Familiarity with market connectivity protocols and settlement (ASX CHESS).
• Security-by-design, observability, and performance optimization for financial systems.
• Strong communication translating tech to business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of core wealth systems (Leveraged Margin Lending and Sandhurst Trustees Fund Management).
• Shape technical direction by modularisation and defined interfaces.
• Translate wealth concepts into robust architectural solutions.
• Embed best practices in testing, observability, security, performance, and CI/CD.
• Reduce technical debt across core APIs and applications.
• Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence.
